Corey is very active in the community. He is dedicated to the causes of criminal justice reform, social equality, and mental health awareness.
In part because of his community service, he was named a 2021 Achiever Under 40 by The Journal Record.
The OK Messages Project is dedicated to connected children with their incarcerated parents through literacy. The program films incarcerated parents reading to their children and then sends a DVD to the children alongside a book. The program has been shown to boost literacy and self-confidence in children with an incarcerated parent, who are 6x more likely to end up in prison than those who do not have a parent in prison.
Corey has served on the board at OK Messages since 2020. He currently serves as the Chair.
A Chance to Change supports people struggling with substance abuse and mental health. The center offers resources, education, counseling, and support.
Corey is currently on the organization's board. He has also served on the organization's young professionals board since 2018. In 2021, he served as the young professionals board's chair.
Stronger Together is designed to bring people of different races, classes, and life experiences together to have shared conversations while spreading connection and dignity among people of different walks of life.
Corey has been a primary organizer of the movement's annual Bridge Conference since 2018. He was critical in moving the conference virtual during the pandemic in 2021.
LOYAL (Linking Oklahoma City's Young Adult Leaders) is a short-format skills-based program intended for young adult leaders beginning their community service involvement. It gives participants the opportunity to grow their community, get deeper involved in organizations that want to make a difference, and develop their network.
Corey is a graduate of LOYAL Class XIV in 2018.
